Areas 3B and 3C:
The IGETC requirements allow the use of advanced foreign languages that include literature or cultural aspects. Most
community colleges do not allow first-semester or first-quarter language courses as part of this requirement. Many
allow the second course in a language to count.
Additional Information regarding the approved Partial IGETC course list:
Students are responsible for monitoring their progress towards satisfying their Partial IGETC requirements.
Students missing 2 areas for Partial IGETC must complete 2 courses. A course that appears in two different areas
cannot be used to satisfy 2 outstanding requirements.
Partial IGETC requirements must be satisfied by completing a course(s) from this approved list AFTER
transferring to UCSD. The course must be at least 4 units and be completed with P or C- or better.
